The chances are that at some point in your life, maybe even every year, you have made a New Year’s resolution.
And then you’ve broken it.
This year, its time to stop the mad cycle, and follow your resolution through to the finish line! Most people every year make a similar determination, to get healthy and lose the weight that we inevitably put on during the busy holiday season.
According to a study from the Statistic Brain Research Institute, approximately
42% of Americans made New Year's resolutions for 2017. The most common resolution -- made by almost a quarter of every person making one -- involves increasing fitness and activity.
To help you stay on track all year long, take a look at our top tips for maintaining a fitness resolution:
Pick A Date And Make It Happen:
You don’t have to pick outrageous numbers or lofty goals to see results. Sometimes the best way to stick with a fitness resolution is to select a date for an important event such as a vacation, wedding or party that you want to look amazing for. Pick a goal and mark it on your calendar. This will help you stay more on track than merely seeing a number on a scale.
Use The Buddy System:
Going to the gym with a friend or watching your diet with your spouse can be one of the best and most motivational ways to get healthy in the new year. You will feel more motivated than ever to keep up with your work out plan and healthy eating.
Pay Attention To Your Body:
When you start a new workout schedule, it is common for people to feel aches in pains in places they haven’t felt before. Pay attention to how your body feels and make sure you don’t push yourself too hard, too quickly. Normally minor aches will go away within 24-48 hours. If your pain persists, don’t be afraid or embarrassed to see your doctor!
Don’t Be So Serious:
Having fun makes time fly by! Make sure your workout routine is making you smile. If you don’t love it, try something else that makes you feel great! When you are enjoying your workout, it makes it feel less like….work!
